From the Jurassic,Bajocian stage.
Collected from Fiddlers Elbow,Cranham, Gloucester,England.
Very interesting piece of the sea bed.
A section of inferior oolite with a serpulid sociable worm colony, amongst other fossil detritus.
The only reasons for this behaviour, would be a safety in numbers aspect, and an abundant supply of food particles. This species is also referred to as Sarcinella plexus.
The whole measures 109mm x 77mm.
