Collected from the Peace River, Florida. U.S.A.
Very nicely preserved palate bone plate, from a weird Porcupine fish.
This Palate would have been used in conjunction with the lower Palate to crush hard shelled pray such as shells and Crustaceans.
The specimen is preserved in an attractive black colour, and has no surrounding matrix.
The entire piece measures 16mm.
