Green river formation, from the great fossil lake, Wyoming in the United States.
Superb definition right down to the beautiful tracery of the fins.
We are looking at one sad death 50 million years ago.
Knightia alta (Leidy 1873) is the fatter bodied Knightia compared to the eocaena species.
The fish is preserved in an orange brown colour and measures 45mm
And including matrix measures 129mm x 88mm
