A Schooling fish from the Eocene period.
Green river formation, from the great fossil lake, Wyoming in the United States.
Superb definition right down to the beautiful tracery of the fins.
We are looking at one sad death 50 million years ago.
Eocaena is the slimmer bodied Knightia compared to the Alta species.
The fish is preserved in an orange brown colour and measures a really good 50mm
And including matrix measures 92mm x 73mm
