Enchodus libycus "Sabre tooth Herring "

Enchodus libycus
From the Cretaceous ,Maastrichtian phosphate beds.
Collected from Oued zem ,Morocco.
This tooth is from a predatory ray finned fish ,locally known as the  " Sabre tooth Herring"
The two front teeth were pointing slightly inwards in order to snare prey and keep it secured .
The tooth is loose from matrix and measures 23mm.
