From the Upper Carboniferous, Westphalian D. Duckmantian, Shales above the Wigan 9 foot coal seam.
Collected from Crock Hay Opencast Pit near Wigan, Lancashire,England.
A very well preserved large leaf from the base of the Neuropteris plant.
In a nodule containing the positive, of this really quite rare leaf,preserved in amazing three dimensions,this sort of thing is usually flattened!
The entire nodule measures 94mm x 57mm.
